About the Guild

The Woodland Weavers’ and Spinners’ Guild of Damascus, Pennsylvania was founded in 1976 by Phyllis Barth, Nellie Burnham, Dolores Quinn, and Cindy Heyn.  Gathering others interested in the making of threads and cloth, they started meeting in their homes to exchange spinning and weaving knowledge, which is the basis of the Guild’s teaching-learning purpose.

Our bylaws specifically state that the purposes of the Guild are to exchange ideas and techniques, and to encourage other to become involved in the arts of spinning and weaving and related crafts.

The members are warm and caring people who are as delighted at a new weaver’s first warp as they are by an experienced spinner’s miles of exquisitely spun yarn.  All the members are eager to share their knowledge and enthusiasm.
